Lawless Derbyshire

This is an open letter to Derbyshire Chief Constable Mick Creedon - he is responsible for the Constabulary refusal to police our roads. The reason for refusing - the death rate is not high enough! Do we expect policing of carrying knives in a school to be driven by the number of deaths in that school or because of the potential danger? With road traffic accidents causing 100x more deaths than either knife or gun crime we have the right to expect the police to take this issue seriously.

Deejaycnc.com Tailgating at last week's crash site

A week after encountering this between Stanton by Bridge and Melbourne:

I am left wondering how could that possibly happen?

A clue perhaps, at around 4pm on Monday 15th August - this driver for DeejayCNC.COM who obviously things the correct tolerance at 40mph is about 6ft...

I am a regular commuter between Melbourne and Derby. I am routinely seeing drivers ignoring the 40mph limit, tailgating both drivers and cyclists at less than 3 metres at 30mph+ and generally behaving like mad people with a death wish. I've tried logging such problems on the police 0345 number but if nobody is injured they don't even want to write anything down. I've tried the Safer Neighbourhood fold who 'prioritised' road policing but I've seen no effect. I've spoken to my local officers who seem to think enforcing traffic law is an ammusing concept. I've tried taking the problems to the Derbyshire Head of Roads Policing but he says he only has funding for 6 cars covering the whole of Derbyshire and has no funding for routine law enforcement and can only afford to police areas where there is a high history of deaths or injuries.
By my calculations, just in Melbourne, we're paying £0.5 million pounds from our council tax for our the policing that we do not receive. So, Chief Constable, what are you spending all of our policing funding on?
